Background

Alterations to roof terrace area circa 600 sqm to create a state of the art auditorium  with retractable stadia seating.

Challenges

Very tight program from design conception through to final handover. As works were carried out during the school term, and with the school adjacent a residential area, it was imperative there was as little disruption as possible to both residents and the school.

Solutions

The core project team worked closely together from the earliest design stages through to final drawing approval, enabling rapid decision making and clear coordination. Regular and transparent communication was maintained with the client and their representative to track progress, address issues promptly and ensure that key milestones were achieved in line with the agreed programme.

The project management team played a pivotal role in sequencing the works, carefully planning noisy and disruptive activities around the school timetable and community sensitivities. Where appropriate, they proposed and adopted practical design and construction solutions that protected quality while supporting timely delivery.

Results

The outcome is a state of the art school auditorium featuring retractable seating, allowing the space to be used flexibly as both performance venue and examinations hall. The new facility integrates seamlessly with the existing campus architecture, giving the impression that it formed part of the original recent new build rather than a later addition.
